Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC announce first head coach

The new USL League One expansion side recently unveiled logo

Colorado’s newest USL League One expansion side continues to prepare for their inaugural season in 2022.

In July, the Windsor, Colorado-based club officially announced their name and released their logo. The name Hailstorm FC is a “nod to Northern Colorado’s notorious hailstorms, and evokes a sense of strength and power that the team will embody every time it steps onto the field.”

Earlier this week, another big announcement came from Northern Colorado:

Éamon Zayed spent the last two seasons with the Chattanooga Red Wolves SC of USL League One after a successful career in Ireland. Nicknamed “Mr. Hat-Trick,” the Dublin-born footballer’s 127 goals are 23rd-most all-time in the League of Ireland.

“I’m extremely excited to be here and to be a part of what I believe will be one of the most exciting franchises in all of USL, not just League One,” said Zayed. “I think USL League One is the fastest-growing and most exciting league in the United States. I’m here to build something that the community will be proud of, and I’m here to be successful and to win championships. I want to give the area a winning team.”

Hailstorm FC will play at the 118-acre Future Legends Complex in Windsor, Colorado, just south of Fort Collins. Opening in 2022, Future Legends will feature a professional stadium, multiple baseball diamonds, multi-purpose fields, an indoor sports arena, lodging, and retail. It will also play host to major sports tournaments, events, leagues, and more.
