The Colorado Rapids cruised to a 2-0 victory over Minnesota United at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park on Wednesday night, extending their unbeaten home streak to five games. While the stats would imply a more evenly matched game, the Rapids had MNUFC on their heels for most of the night.
To be fair, both sides had a few chances in the first half but no one found the back of the net until Braian Galvan scored in the 45th minute to put the Burgundy Boys up 1-0 going into halftime.
Andre Shinyashiki chipped MNUFC goalkeeper Tyler Miller in the 81st minute to seal the deal while William Yarbrough earned his 5th clean sheet of the season between the sticks.
To add insult to injury, Minnesota went down to 10 men in the 86th minute when Ramón Ábila was shown a red card. Despite eight minutes of stoppage time, the Rapids held on to get all three points tonight from a strong Minnesota side.
