The Colorado Rapids have had at least one player feature in the MLS Team of the Week for the last three weeks in a row. This time, Diego Rubio made the bench for his last-minute strike against the Houston Dynamo that earned the Burgundy Boys a big win to finish out the regular season.
After the win in Houston, Rapids Head Coach Robin Fraser sang Rubio’s praises, saying “His unselfishness, his ability to lead the press, his timing, his work rate. He’s incredibly unselfish in what he does. This is one of the strengths of this team. There are a lot of unselfish guys on the team that are willing to do work for other guys when they need to and Diego is the first one to do that.”
Rubio was also called up for the Chile Men’s National Team on November 6. The 27-year-old has nine caps for La Roja senior side and his first call-up for competitive matches.
