The Colorado Rapids looked much better tonight than against Sporting Kansas City, but a late own goal from Lalas Abubakar gave Minnesota United all three points on Wednesday night.

Colorado came hot for the first 10-15 minutes, putting themselves in multiple dangerous positions early. Unfortunately, they weren’t able to get a shot on target or convert anything and the first half went downhill after that.

Minnesota opened scoring off a Rapids turnover in the 44th minute, giving the home side the advantage going into halftime.

Twenty-four minutes into the second half, Diego Rubio draws out the Minnesota goalkeeper and lays it off to Andre Shinyashiki, who finds the back of the net to level it up 1-1.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t meant to be. In the 89th minute, Abubakar accidentally headed the ball in for an own goal, sealing the win for the home side.
