UPDATE 1/3: The camp will now be held at IMG Academy in Florida.

The Colorado Rapids and US Soccer recently announced the roster for the U.S. Men’s National Team January training camp and the Burgundy Boys will have two players in attendance. On January 5th, Rapids defender Sam Vines and forward Jonathan Lewis will report to camp in Doha, Qatar. The camp runs through the month of January and ends with a friendly in Southern California on February 1st.

Lewis was a late call-up to last year’s January camp and made his debut with the senior team when he subbed on against Panama on January 27th. He has had five total appearances with the senior team and has earned two assists.

Vines has been called up to U-20 and U-23 camps, but this will be the 20-year-old’s first camp with the senior squad.

USMNT Head Coach Gregg Berhalter said: “At the start of an exciting year, this is a great opportunity to continue our process and build on the foundation established in the last 12 months. At the same, there are a number of players getting their first exposure to the senior national team who will be provided the platform to make a positive impression. We appreciate all the support and cooperation from MLS and the clubs that released their players and gave us a chance to get a head start on the challenges ahead.”

The roster includes players from 14 MLS clubs and two players are from international clubs, Wolfsburg U-19 forward Ulysses Llanez and midfielder Christian Cappis of Danish SuperLiga side Hobro. Six players have been called up for the first time and there are 12 uncapped players in the group.

Congrats to both Sam Vines and Jonathan Lewis! Hopefully we’ll see them play in the friendly on February 1st.
