Tonight is the final home game for the Colorado Rapids’ 2019 season. They take on FC Dallas in what could be another monumental game as the Rapids still look for that elusive playoff spot. Colorado sit six points behind FC Dallas, so the Rapids could pull off the unthinkable with a win here and a win in LA next week. Since firing Anthony Hudson, the Rapids have more wins than the Portland Timbers, FC Dallas, and San Jose Earthquakes. It just goes to show that losing nine games to start the season can surely come back to bite you.

The Rapids/Dallas matchup has a lot of history, even in times when the games didn’t seem to mean anything (just ask Dillon Serna). Overall, the Rapids are 23-33-17 and 15-9-11 at home. Kellyn Acosta may also want to do to Dallas what Kei Kamara and Diego Rubio did to their previous team (Sporting KC).

Jack Price will be the key player today. With Price on the top of his game (11 assists this season), there will be opportunities for the Burgundy Boys to put one or two past Jesse Gonzales and the Dallas defense. It should also be noted that coach Robin Fraser is 4-1-0 in his first five games with the club, so let’s hope he keeps that going.

Pundits say Dallas has their fate in their hands, but with the wave that the Rapids have been creating lately one might say the ‘soccer gods’ got this one. We the fan may have to ride this one out for another week or two.

The big question is whether or not Robin Fraser will play Tim Howard, as it will be his final home game in Colorado. Howard has been listed as questionable with a bad hamstring for a few weeks now, but if he is any good to go at all the chances are high for the fans to see the GOAT one more time.

The season is not over yet, although for Rapids fans this may the last chance to see your team play until 2020. It’s time to hit up Dick’s Sporting Goods Park for one more game with your footy fam before the 2019 season comes to an end.

One last note: Chris Penso is the center referee tonight, of all the refs in PRO this one is Jekyll & Hyde, he’s called some good games before, but then again, he’s also known for some big mistakes. Here’s to hoping he won’t want to take the spotlight from Howard.
