Last weekend was seriously fun. Six goals—three of which came from Kei Kamara alone—and a new record for most goals in one game for our Colorado Rapids, all the while fighting an illness from the 14th century? Pretty rad.
But this week, the San Jose Earthquakes are coming to town—one of the hottest teams in MLS right now.
I covered them a few weeks ago (which you can read about here), so let’s focus on what has happened since then.
Well, first off, we went to San Jose and lost… but it wasn’t that bad. A 3-1 score against them on the road isn’t anything to be ashamed of. The Quakes are currently tied in 3rd in the Western Conference.
Interestingly, after a 3-1 stand against us, they only managed to secure a draw against the Columbus Crew. The Crew second-to-last in the East and have a very weak offense. A 1-1 draw against Columbus at home was a bit of a shocking result for the Quakes.
Meanwhile, we had the Plague Clasico and had the best offensive game we have ever seen from the Rapids. It might be a one-time thing, but it still proves that the Rapids offense is good. We are now tied for the 3rd most goals scored in the West. It’s hard to believe after the last several seasons with an absolutely anemic offense.
Nonetheless, the Quakes are still a very good team and the Rapids should be ready for a heck of a fight. Let’s just not worry too much if we don’t score six goals again.
