The fireworks show planned for Saturday after the Colorado Rapids take on the Montreal Impact has been canceled and will not be rescheduled. After inclement weather caused cancellation of fireworks the first time, this time it’s something no one saw coming - plague-infested fleas have been confirmed in the prairie dog colonies around DSGP.

According to the announcement from the club, “per guidance of Tri-County Health Department, Colorado Rapids August 3 game to continue as scheduled, post-game fireworks have been canceled, and parking surrounding stadium restricted.”

As of now, the game is still on, but only asphalt parking lots will be open. The plague can be transmitted to humans and the club will continue to monitor the situation leading up to the game tomorrow night.

Other areas that are temporarily closed include:

  • The Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge (more info. here)
  • The Prairie Gateway Open Space in Commerce City (more info. here)
