Game Preview: Houston Dynamo vs. Colorado Rapids

Houston have been on a downward spiral - can the Rapids take advantage of it?

MLS: Houston Dynamo at Colorado Rapids Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

The Colorado Rapids are in Texas tonight as they look to get some points back against the Dynamo. Houston came to Colorado earlier in the year and capitalized on two own goals in a 4-1 victory. The Dynamo have had a bit of a downward slide recently having lost its last four games and only winning two in their last 12—enough for the Front Office to fire Head Coach Wilmer Cabrera last week.

A midweek showdown in Minnesota was the first time Colorado had been shut out since Conor Casey took over, snapping the Rapids goal-scoring streak and possibly leaving the guys a little heavy-legged. Jack Price didn’t travel to Minnesota due to yellow card accumulation, so he should be rested for this match.

Fresh legs will help here as the Houston humidity is no joke and can be more of a home-field advantage than altitude in my book, so this game could be a good opportunity for the Burgundy Boys to show us some killer mentality. With Houston losing 10 of their last 12 games and just firing their coach, the Dynamo aren’t running on all cylinders and can be beaten.

It took the Rapids two games to get on a new track, how many will it take Houston?

Tim Howard is still listed as questionable with an undisclosed injury, and the only other absentees are Kortne Ford and Deklan Wynne.
