Rapids’ Jonathan Lewis included in preliminary Concacaf Gold Cup roster

The Colorado RapidsJonathan Lewis (who recently joined the Rapids via trade from New York City FC) was among the 78 MLS players named to preliminary rosters for the 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup.

The 21-year-old made his Rapids debut on May 11 at home against Real Salt Lake and earned an assist. He made MLS Team of the Week for his efforts against LA Galaxy and helped his new club earn their first three points of the season.

The camp runs from May 26th-June 2nd in Annapolis, Maryland. The first training group includes senior national team players (who are eligible for the 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup) and a handful of U-23 players. The final 23-man roster is due by midnight on June 5th.

The USMNT will play two friendlies ahead of the Gold Cup, against Jamaica on June 5th and Venezuela on June 9th.

The 2019 Gold Cup begins June 15th when Canada face Martinique, followed by Mexico playing Cuba. The USMNT play their first match against Guyana on June 18.
