The MLS Disciplinary Committee has issued another round of punishments this week: one that greatly benefits the Colorado Rapids this weekend and another that hurts.
The Good News
LA Galaxy forward Zlatan Ibrahimović is suspended for two games (and issued an undisclosed fine) for violent conduct in the 86th minute of their game vs. New York City FC last weekend. This is definitely a good thing for the Rapids.
The Bad News
Diego Rubio was also handed a second game suspension for violent conduct in the 77th minute of the match against the Vancouver Whitecaps FC on May 3rd. He already missed the Real Salt Lake match due to the red card he received during the Vancouver game, so LA will be his second game.
Being at full-force would obviously help the Rapids, but unfortunately Rubio hasn’t had the impact we had hoped for (yet). Colorado have some decent attacking options without Rubio, so while it would’ve been nice to have him, I’m not too concerned about him missing another game.
