The Colorado Rapids should have won tonight. They had 15 corners (to D.C. United’s three). They had 20 shots with 6 on target, compared to 9 shots with 4 on target. The Burgundy Boys came out fast and Benny Feilhaber put them on the board in the 11th minute, but then DCU scored three goals in eight minutes from the 35th-43rd minutes.
As DC started to look tired in the second half, the ‘Pids got chance after chance to tie up the game and maybe even get three points. Kei Kamara blasted a header past goalkeeper Bill Hamid in the 66th minute and everyone started to believe that Colorado just might pull it off.
In the 68th minute, the Rapids were thisclose to tying it up, but Steve Birnbaum made a miraculous save off the line:

After tonight’s loss, the Rapids are on a four-game losing streak just seven games into the season. Anthony Hudson’s record is currently 8-24-9.
In the post-game press conference, Hudson said:
"The players need to step up. It hasn't been good enough." -#Rapids96 head coach Anthony Hudson. #COLvDC.

It’s individual mistakes. Has tried to change midfield shape to protect that and it hasn’t helped. No one on the back four has staked a claim as a starter. This needs to be looked at. #Rapids96
The Rapids are heading to Chicago next week and then Atlanta the week after. They come home to DSGP in May to face the Vancouver Whitecaps and then Real Salt Lake. When will the first win of 2019 come?
