The Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC announced Monday the signing of Ismaila “Ish” Jome. The 24-year-old Gambian National spent 2018 with the USL Nashville SC after 2 seasons with Minnesota United in both the NASL and MLS.

The signing is another in a string of versatile midfielders and defenders for the Switchbacks this offseason. While Jome is listed as a midfielder, he has experience playing wingback, and will most likely try to fill the void left by Josh Suggs, who signed with the USL Championship expansion side New Mexico United this offseason.

“Ish is a big addition to the team. He is a technical and dynamic attacking defender and he has quality to get in the attack and ability to find the final pass,” said Switchbacks head coach, Steve Trittschuh. “He has a lot of experience and will fit in perfectly with the way we play.”

“I’m happy to be joining the Switchbacks this season as it’s an exciting franchise in the USL Championship in a great city,” said Jome. “I look forward to doing my best to help the team get back into the playoffs and compete for a championship.”

The Switchbacks opened preseason camp last week and will be participating in the Wasatch Winter Cup in Hermann Utah beginning February 18th, with matches against USL Championship Western Conference foes Real Monarchs and Reno 1868 FC.

The Switchbacks will begin its fifth season in the USL Championship on Saturday, March 9th at the Los Angeles Galaxy II before returning home to face the Sacramento Republic on March 16th at Weidner Field.

Jome brings the total number of announced signings to 12.
