The 2019 MLS Expansion Draft took place today so that Inter Miami CF and Nashville SC—the two newest expansion teams—could add some experienced players to their rosters.

The seven players that the Colorado Rapids left unprotected were:
- Niki Jackson
- Johan Blomberg
- Kofi Opare
- Abdul Rwatubyaye
- Axel Sjöberg
- Danny Wilson
- Tim Howard
There were plenty of great options available this year and here’s how it all went down:

Inter Miami: Defender Ben Sweat, NYCFC
Nashille SC: Forward Abu Danladi from Minnesota United FC
Round 2
Inter Miami: Defender Alvas Powell from FC Cincinnati (taken from the Portland Timbers last year by FCC)
Nashille SC: Defender Zarek Valentin from the Portland Timbers; traded to Houston Dynamo for Goalkeeper Joe Willis
Round 3
Inter Miami: Midfielder Lee Nguyen from LAFC
Nashille SC: Defender Jalil Anibaba from New England Revolution
Round 4
Inter Miami: Midfielder Luis Argudo from Columbus Crew
Nashille SC: Forward Brandon Vasquez from Atlanta United; traded to FC Cincinnati for $150K TAM
Round 5
Inter Miami: Goalkeeper Bryan Meredith from Seattle Sounders
Nashille SC: Defender Jimmy Medranda from Sporting Kansas City

- Goalkeeper Adrian Zendejas from Sporting Kansas City to Nashville for $50K GAM, $125K TAM, and a 2020 international spot.
- Leftback Daniel Lovitz from Montreal Impact to Nashville for $50K GAM, $50K TAM, and a 2020 international roster spot.
- Miami acquire Cincinnati’s 3rd overall SuperDraft pick for $150K GAM, giving the Florida side the 1st and 3rd overall picks in the 2020 SuperDraft.
