Colorado Rapids pick Andre Shinyashiki in the first round

University of Denver star Andre Shinyashiki is taken fifth overall by the Colorado Rapids.

Brazilian forward Andre Shinyashiki from the University of Denver is the first round pick for the Colorado Rapids!

Entering the SuperDraft with the 15th overall pick in the first round, the Rapids traded with the Chicago in order to secure the 5th pick and obtain the man whom many have noted was on the radar for the Rapids. The Chicago Fire also received $100,000 in GAM.

According to his profile on the University of Denver site:

Made 83 career appearances, starting 67 matches, scoring 51 goals and adding 15 assists…83 appearances tied with Scott DeVoss and Sam Hamilton for the most in Denver’s Division I history...Netted 19 game-winning goals Set Denver’s career records in points (117), goals (51) and game-winning goals (19)…Tied Denver’s career record in appearances with 83…Led a Denver senior class that entered the NCAA Tournament third in the country in wins (61-11-10) and second in the country in percentage of points earned at 78.5%...Reached the century mark in points on October 5, 2018 with the 43rd and 44th goals of his career…Scored multiple goals in season openers three times in his four-year career.
