In the wake of the MLS All Star Game presented by Target, the Colorado Rapids host LA Galaxy sans Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Today, our Colorado Rapids (4-12-5) host the LA Galaxy (10-7-5) at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.

The big headline is not who lines up on the pitch, but who’s not lining up: Galaxy striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who opted to miss the MLS All Star Game Presented by Target, will miss the Rapids match per league policy.

The Rapids sit 11th in the Western Conference, but have some glimmers of hope with Kellyn Acosta now on the roster. They have an ever-widening gap now in the table, with the Seattle Sounders in 10th but nine points ahead in the standings. The Rapids have a semi-respectable record at home (3-5-3) and hope to use the altitude and a raucous crowd to give the good buys the lift they need.

Even without Ibrahimovic, the Galaxy still pose significant threats on offense. They have earned results in their last five matches (four wins and a draw) that have catapulted the Galaxy into third in the West.
