After the Colorado Rapids had a fairly active week with the signing of Cole Bassett and still glowing from the 2-1 home win last Saturday against the LA Galaxy, they receive some more home cooking as they take on the San Jose Earthquakes at 7:00 pm tonight.
San Jose (3-12-7) have struggled—so much so that Rapids supporters console themselves by saying, “At least we’re not San Jose” who have kept the Rapids from last place in the Western Conference this year. Yet, the Quakes come off a nice win against FC Dallas (who have provided two of their three wins), giving them their first win since May 12.
The Rapids have come to life of late. Still 11th in the Western Conference (5-12-5), recent acquisitions like Kellyn Acosta and the aforementioned Cole Bassett have injected some hope that we hope will be contagious on the field. The 4-4-2 diamond installed by Coach Anthony Hudson seems to suit the players we have better than previous formations.
