Our Colorado Rapids (4-11-5) travel east to play DC United (3-9-5) in a match that will likely garner headlines due to the recent acquisition of former Manchester United and Everton star Wayne Rooney.
The visiting team, however, made an acquisition that our own Tim Howard noted would be a “milestone” signing for the club in one Kellyn Acosta. The Rapids came off a draw against Real Salt Lake at Rio Tinto last Saturday (2-2, after being down 2-0), and beat Boca Juniors on Tuesday in an international friendly at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. Hopefully for Rapids supporters, these two results will hopefully bode well against another team that has had its struggles in 2018.
DC United will play their third match at Audi Field, coming of a midweek 1-0 loss to the New York Red Bulls. DC United’s coach Ben Olsen noted:
“We have been efficient with our chances and created plenty of looks on goal… that is the most important thing. Building off the second half can be a positive, but only if we learn from the first half and learn how to get out of our comfort zone and have a tougher mentality. We were unfortunate to not at least get a point out of tonight.”

Here’s your starting lineup for your Colorado Rapids. Shkelzen Gashi did not travel with the team to DC and Johan Blomberg will serve a suspension on his next yellow card. Here’s the injury report the team tweeted recently.
