#VANvCOL Game Preview: Colorado Rapids at Vancouver Whitecaps

The Rapids are looking to keep things moving in the right direction.

The Colorado Rapids are in British Columbia this weekend to take on the Vancouver Whitecaps. The two clubs met exactly one month ago at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, where the Canadian side took home all three points in a 2-1 win.

The Rapids are looking to keep things going in the right direction and move past the 9-game losing streak, as they’ve earned points in their last two games. Vancouver has also only had two games since the last time they played Colorado, beating Orlando City SC 5-2 and then getting destroyed 4-0 by the Philadelphia Union last week.

The Burgundy Boys seem to be relatively healthy these days, and it will be all hands on deck for three games over the next week. This also means we’ll likely see Anthony Hudson get creative with the lineup. Even though consistency is important right now, there’s not much Hudson can do if he wants to keep everyone healthy.

We’ve been hearing that Kortne Ford should make it back in the lineup “soon,” so I would guess that we’ll see him feature in at least one of the next three games. The injury report still lists Ford, Axel Sjoberg, and Marlon Hairston, but Matt Pollard confirmed with Coach Hudson at practice last week that all are cleared, healthy, and ready to go.

For the Whitecaps, it’s unlikely that we’ll see defender Kendall Waston. He was called up to the Costa Rican national team, and while they didn’t make it past the group stage, he played a full game for them last Wednesday. The player to watch is 17-year-old Alphonso Davies, who has two goals and seven assists and earned Don Garber’s commissioner’s pick into the 2018 MLS All-Star game. They’ve also got this guy named Kei Kamara, who has six goals and three assists in 11 starts this season. He’s not bad, either.
