Colorado Rapids Head Coach Anthony Hudson promised that the club was taking this round of the US Open Cup “100% seriously.” But between injuries and two double-game weeks coming up, Hudson had a challenge on his hands when it came to the starting XI. Hudson explained that “we want to go strong with the lineup and also give one or two an opportunity.”
Possibly the most exciting name to see in this starting XI tonight is Marlon Hairston. We’ve been missing the right wingback since the beginning of April, and it will be good to see him back on the pitch. Because Kortne Ford is still a week or so from coming back and both Danny Wilson and Axel Sjoberg are injured, Micheal Azira gets his second start of the season, but as a center back.
After practice on Monday, Hudson mentioned that he may tweak the shape of the squad, so we’ll see if that happens tonight.
