MLS: Preseason Friendly-Nashville SC vs Atlanta United FC Christopher Hanewinckel-USA TODAY Sports

The U.S. Open Cup is in full swing and we’re coming up on the 4th round, which means it’s time for the MLS teams to jump into the tournament.

And the Colorado Rapids drew... Nashville SC. If you don’t know anything about this Tennessee side, their head coach is former Rapids HC Gary Smith, and their roster includes former Rapids goalkeeper Matt Pickens and former Rapids defender Kosuke Kimura. Smith, Pickens, and Kimura were all part of the 2010 MLS Cup winning team. Forward Alan Winn, a Rapids 2018 SuperDraft pick from UNC, is also on the squad.

This game will be Nashville’s first non-friendly match against an MLS club. In the 2018 preseason, they lost to Atlanta United 3-1, drew Chicago Fire 0-0, and beat Orlando City SC 3-1. Nashville came into the USOC tournament in the 2nd round and won two home games to make it to the 4th round, beating Nashville FC 2-0 and Mississippi Brilla FC 3-1.

Tickets will go on sale on May 29 at noon CT.

UPDATE 6/1: The game will take place in Nashville at Vanderbilt Football Stadium on June 6 at 6:30 p.m. MT.
