This afternoon, the Colorado Rapids announced that Kortne Ford will be out for 8-10 weeks with a sprained left medial collateral ligament (MCL). The homegrown defender got injured at a team scrimmage last Saturday.
Ford was surely going to be in the starting XI vs. New England this weekend, but the Rapids have plenty of depth in centerback to fill his spot for the next couple of months. Deklan Wynne had been playing quite a bit in preseason and now that he has a green card, he may not actually go out on loan as we initially thought. Besides Wynne, options include Axel Sjoberg, Jared Watts, and Eric Miller to line up with Danny Wilson and Tommy Smith.
This announcement comes right after news that Laurie Ford’s cancer marker numbers have increased and she will need more treatment. The only positive from this is that hopefully Kort will get to spend more time with his mom.
We’re keeping you in our thoughts and hope to see both of you out at DSGP very soon!
