The Colorado Rapids announced this morning that defender Jared Watts has been traded to the Houston Dynamo in exchange for $100,000 TAM. Watts has played in 71 matches for the club, starting in 61 of them. He was a key part of the 2016 Rapids’ defense that led the team to the playoffs in 2016.

“We want to thank Jared for his contributions to our club over the past four seasons,” said Rapids Executive Vice President and General Manager Pádraig Smith. “He is a genuine, committed professional, and we wish him the best of luck as he begins this next chapter of his career.”

This news doesn’t come as a complete surprise, considering all of the changes that have been made in the off-season. Watts hasn’t seen the playing field since Tommy Wilson and Danny Smith joined the team.

We wish him nothing but the best luck in the future with Houston!
