It’s the moment we’ve been waiting for: Anthony Hudson and the new Colorado Rapids’ “real” debut. The Burgundy Boys are kicking off the regular season in Foxborough today to face the New England Revolution. The Revs looked terrible last week, losing 2-0 in Philadelphia and seeing two of their starting centerbacks sent off with red cards. Their star #10, Lee Nguyen, wanted to be traded in the offseason but the team wouldn’t let him go, and there are rumors that the club is shopping around forward Krisztian Nemeth, so there’s a bit of discord in New England these days.
The Rapids, on the other hand, are coming together nicely after getting a new head coach and many new players in the offseason. While Kortne Ford is out with an MCL sprain and Axel Sjoberg is suspended from a red card in the last game of last season, there are still three other centerbacks to choose from (Deklan Wynne, Jared Watts, and Eric Miller). Hudson also has several options in the midfield, and while he will not feature on the pitch today, forward Joe Mason is finally joining the team in New England.
