Jackson was chosen by the Rapids in the fourth round of the 2018 MLS Super Draft (73rd overall). He comes from Grand Canyon University in Arizona, where he earned 41 goals in 58 starts, including 11 in his last season. The striker came in 96th in Top Drawer Soccer’s national player rankings.
The Rapids are pleased with how Niki played in the preseason and Rapids Executive Vice President & General Manager, Pádraig Smith said “he is a very talented, humble young man who has all the tools necessary to succeed as an attacking player in Major League Soccer. We look forward to helping him reach his potential.”
Jackson called it a “dream come true” and “he can’t wait to get started with the Rapids.”
He’s been signed to a one-year contract with three additional option years. He was born in Arizona, so he doesn’t take an international spot, either!
