The Colorado Rapids have added a sixth new face to the 2019 roster, acquiring right back Keegan Rosenberry from the Philadelphia Union. The Rapids gave the Union $150,000 in General Allocation Money and $50,000 Targeted Allocation Money for 2019, plus they’ll pay $100,000 GAM in 2020 and another $100,000 in “conditional payments.”
Executive Vice President & General Manager, Pádraig Smith called Rosenberry one of the “best young right backs in MLS,” adding that he is a “technically gifted and strong defender whose passing from the back will fit perfectly with our style of play.”
The 25-year-old Pennsylvania native was a third overall pick in the 2016 MLS SuperDraft and was an all-star and runner-up for Rookie of the Year. He had 80 appearances for the Union over his first three seasons, 76 of which were starts. Rosenberry was called into the 2017 USMNT January camp, but hasn’t yet played in a game for the national team.
