Colorado Rapids announce end-of-year roster moves

As the roster deadline came and went yesterday with a word from the Colorado Rapids, some of us were beginning to wonder when we would hear about their year-end roster decisions. The announcement came this morning and the club has exercised contract options on four players: Deklan Wynne, Kellyn Acosta, Dillon Serna, and Niki Jackson.

The Rapids have declined options on eight players: Kip Colvey, Mike da Fonte, Giles Barnes, Sam Hamilton, Enzo Martinez, Ricardo Perez, Caleb Calvert, and Jack McBean.

Fourteen players have guaranteed contracts at least through 2019: Tim Howard, Zac MacMath, Kortne Ford, Marlon Hairston, Axel Sjöberg, Tommy Smith, Sam Vines, Danny Wilson, Cole Bassett, Nana Boateng, Johan Blomberg, Sam Nicholson, Jack Price, and Shkëlzen Gashi.

Other Notes: Andrew Dykstra and Yannick Boli are out of contract. The club is still in negotiation with C.F. Monterrey about Edgar Castillo (the Rapids did not exercise the option to purchase Castillo’s contract).
