Starting XI & Game Preview: Colorado Rapids vs FC Dallas

It’s Fan Appreciation Day at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.

MLS: Columbus Crew at FC Dallas Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

It is the final Colorado Rapids game of the season and although there are no playoffs to push for, there is always pride. The Burgundy Boys have started to show signs of life as the 2018 season wraps up, shutting out their opponents in back-to-back games—something they haven’t done since 2016.

And today’s opponent is FC Dallas, who is an organic rival to boot. These two teams have had some history and earlier this season, Colorado traded forward Dominique Badji to Dallas for midfielder Kellyn Acosta. Both guys have scored just two goals since the trade, but Rapids fans still think that they got the better end of the deal.

Long-time Rapids fans will also remind others that FC Dallas head coach has tended to lose his team towards the end of the season. Patterns show that Oscar Pareja and FC Dallas will often drop points down the final stretch and they just lost 0-3 to Sporting KC last week.

Although Dallas does fall off the table a bit at the end of the season, there is room to fall when you’ve been at the top of the table for most of the year. FC Dallas is tied for 2nd place with LAFC (57 points), sitting below Sporting KC who have 59. Sporting KC and LAFC face each other today.

The Rapids have several players listed as out due to injuries this week, which means they could have a tough afternoon ahead of them.

There is a 2:30 kickoff for this one and the weather looks promising for a game at the end of October. Come celebrate the season with C38 in the style of an Irish Wake and tip our hat to what was a long season.
