Earlier this afternoon, the Colorado Rapids announced that there will be what the club is calling a “pop-up player announcement” today (January 8) at 4 p.m. in front of Denver’s “Love this City” mural at 2314 Broadway in RiNo. The Rapids have never done anything like this before and it gives fans the opportunity to meet the two newest signings before the official announcement has been made.
According to our sources, the two players will be Edgar Castillo from Liga MX’s Monterrey and Jack Price from the EFL’s Wolverhampton Wanderers FC.
As we’ve previously reported, Castillo has spent his entire career in Liga MX and most recently joined Monterrey in 2015. The 31-year-old left fullback is known for his explosive speed and is one of two players to ever earn a senior cap for both the United States and Mexico (he was born in the United States but is of Mexican descent). He made his US debut in 2009, and had four appearances for Mexico and three for their U-23 team in the years prior.
Jack Price, on the other hand, just popped up this weekend. The 25-year-old has had 107 appearances and two goals with the Wolves, and plays a defensive midfielder role. On Twitter, Wolves fans called him “very talented” and think he will “do very well in MLS.”
Stay tuned for an official announcement!
