MLSSoccer.com’s Sam Stjeskal reported that there were three teams interested in signing center back Roderick Miller: LAFC, Houston Dynamo, and our Colorado Rapids. Miller has been with Colombian side Atlético Nacional since June of 2016, but Metro Libre reported that Colombian newspaper El Deportivo found out that the Rapids and Dynamo were interested in signing him to a loan. The Honduras paper La Prensa added that LAFC was also interested in signing him. (The things we do to track down these rumors.)
Miller has only played three games for Atlético Nacional, but he does have 25 career caps with his home country, Panama. The 6’2” and 183-pound defender played in four World Cup qualifiers. Considering that Panama did qualify for the World Cup, Miller could be looking to move to a team where he’s going to get significant playing time in preparation for the tournament.
This video is not great, but shows off his pace and size:
We do know that the Rapids are still possibly looking to sign another center back, so I’m leaning towards this rumor being true.
H/T to @cinhosa for spotting this rumor and sharing it in the comments of the Tommy Smith article.
