Colorado travels to Canada to face the Western Conference-leading Vancouver Whitecaps. Vancouver has only a one-point lead over Portland, Kansas City, and Seattle for that first place spot, which would give them a valuable knockout-round bye in the playoffs. Moreover, with only seven points separating first from eighth, Vancouver need to keep their foot on the gas in order to pick up as many points as they can to ensure a trip to the postseason after being left out in 2016.
For the Rapids, the odds are, as always, stacked against them. Their first road win of the season came just three weeks ago in Houston when Stefan Aigner levitated a ball into Dominique Badji, who scored the stoppage time winner. Other than that, the ‘Pids have 2 draws, 11 losses when they are away from
Phish Field Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. Even worse, in those 14 road matches, they have collected only a paltry six goals. Steve Cooke, who began trying out a 4-3-3, has reverted to a 4-2-3-1 in the past few weeks, and collected better results. Still, Colorado are going to have to be nearly perfect going into BC Place against a hungry Whitecaps team that has only lost one game in it’s last nine matches.

*note- Not sure what this formation will be. A 4-3-3? A 4-4-2? Hmmm...
