On Saturday, September 23rd, the Colorado Rapids will travel to the Canadian province of British Columbia to play the Vancouver Whitecaps at BC Place. Kickoff is set for 8:00pm MDT and the match will be broadcast on Altitude.
The Colorado Rapids are unbeaten in their last two games but the Rocky Mountain side are still bottom of the Western Conference and have the lowest points total of any team in the league. The trip to Vancouver is also the Rapids 5th road fixture in their past six games.
Colorado (7-16-5, 26 points) are coming off a 1-1 home draw with New York City FC at DIck’s Sporting Goods Park on Saturday night. Thomas McNamara opened the scoring in the first half from a fantastic curling effort that Tim Howard had no chance to stop. Dominique Badji tallied late on in the second half as the Rapids salvaged a point against a solid NYCFC side. Italian legend Andrea Pirlo made his first club appearance in Colorado and assisted on McNamara’s goal.
Vancouver (13-9-6, 45 points) currently find themselves top of the Western Conference. Last weekend the Whitecaps played to a 2-2 home draw against the Columbus Crew at the BC Place. Fredy Montero scored early in the first half and Tony Tchani scored in second-half stoppage time as both teams earned a share of the spoils.
Whitecaps defender Kendall Waston will not feature as the Costa Rica international is serving a one-match ban due to yellow card accumulation. Rapids forward Kevin Doyle is not expected to play due to concussion protocol.
