It’s been a long time coming.

The day has finally arrived that the Colorado Rapids and Juan Ramirez have “mutually agreed” to terminate his contract.

Signed by the team in February 2015 as a Young Designated Player, the Argentinian midfielder never developed into the player we were all hoping he would. After playing 27 matches (including 15 starts) for the Rapids in 2015, he was loaned to U.D. Almería of the Spanish Second Division for six months at the beginning of 2016. Ramirez was then sent to Club Atlético Talleres of the Argentine First Division, a loan that lasted until June 30, 2017.

Even though Ramirez didn’t work out in Colorado, we wish him nothing but the best.

The Rapids now have a Designated Player spot open to go after a big name/big money signing in the off-season. Because he was on loan, Ramirez did not count towards an international slot.
