On Tuesday, July 4th, the Colorado Rapids will host the Seattle Sounders at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. Kickoff is set for 7:00pm MDT and the match will be broadcast on Altitude.

The Colorado Rapids will look to continue their recent winning ways at home as they welcome the defending MLS Champions to Dick’s Sporting Goods Park on Independence Day. This is the first meeting between the two sides since Seattle eliminated the Rapids from the Western Conference championship last season. The Sounders went on to win their first MLS Cup title after defeating Toronto FC in penalties at BMO Field in Toronto, Ontario.

Colorado (6-10-1, 19 points) are coming off an uplifting 3-1 home win over the Houston Dynamo on Saturday. Marlon Hairston scored two goals and Kevin Doyle also found the scoresheet to lift the Rapids to victory. Tim Howard made some excellent saves but was unable to keep a clean sheet as Erick Torres scored in first-half stoppage time for Houston.

Seattle (5-7-6, 21 points) are coming off a 2-1 loss against the San Jose Earthquakes in the U.S. Open Cup at the Avaya Stadium on Wednesday, June 28th. After Seattle’s trip to Colorado they will play a friendly against German Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt at CenturyLink Field on Saturday.

The Sounders will be missing some key players due to international duty. These include Jordan Morris, Cristian Roldan, Oniel Fisher, and Jordy Delem. Brad Evans is serving a suspension after receiving a red card against the Portland Timbers. The only key injury right now for Seattle is homegrown player Seyi Adekoya who is listed as questionable with an ankle issue.

Colorado will be without the services of Shkelzen Gashi, Axel Sjoberg, Josh Gatt, and Dillon Powers, who are all dealing with various minor injuries.

After the game, be sure and stick around for one of the best fireworks shows in the state of Colorado!
