What you need to know about #USAvTRI

The USMNT is 12-1-3 vs. Trinidad & Tobago in World Cup Qualifiers.

The US Men’s National Team is taking on Trinidad and Tobago in an important 2018 World Cup Qualifier today, right here in Denver, at 5:50 pm MDT. There have been events around the city all week and you may have noticed some of the buildings in downtown lit up in red, white, and blue to support our national team.

The USMNT picked up four points in March, but are still sitting in 4th place in their group (behind Mexico, Costa Rica, and Panama). They are tied with Honduras and just a point ahead of Trinidad and Tobago. After a 1-1 draw in a friendly against Venezuela, Arena and company need to #Get3 today, especially since they are heading down to take on Mexico at Azteca this weekend.

The US side has met T&T 16 times in World Cup Qualifiers since 1985, resulting in a 12-1-3 record in favor of the Yanks. Eleven players on our roster have 11 or more WCQ appearances, including Clint Dempsey, who is on the cusp of breaking Landon Donovan’s all-time men’s national team scoring record.

Meanwhile, T&T has had ongoing issues with disciplinary issues and are last place in the group, with three points after a home win against Panama.

We will likely see Tim Howard in goal for the United States, and fellow Colorado Rapids teammate Mekeil Williams defending for Trinidad and Tobago. They apparently have a friendly bet going about the outcome of the game today.
