Regardless of how we feel about the coach, the Front Office, or the ownership of the Colorado Rapids, we can all agree that when one of our Rapids’ family members need help, we pull together and help.
When we first heard the news about Laurie Ford’s cancer returning, fans rallied to support her and Kortne and spread the word about raising money. But the battle for Laurie Ford isn’t over, and the gofundme still has about $5,000 to go to hit their goal.
This time, Ford’s fellow teammate Micheal Azira was the catalyst for an event to show support for the family. Azira said, “When we heard the news that Kortne’s mom had been diagnosed, my wife asked me what we could do to help the Fords raise money.”
After some brainstorming, they came up with the idea to auction off game-worn, autographed jerseys, and every single player on the team agreed to participate.
The auction is currently open on Gesture, and the opening bids are $250 per jersey. Bidding will be open until 10 pm on Wednesday, July 5, and all proceeds go to the Ford family.
