A win against LA would get the Rapids up to the red line.

On Wednesday, June 21st, the Colorado Rapids will play host to the Los Angeles Galaxy at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. Kickoff is set for 7:00 pm MDT and the match will be broadcast on Altitude.

The Colorado Rapids have won four straight home games and have finally lifted themselves out of last place in the Western Conference standings. A fifth straight home win would actually put Colorado level on points with LA Galaxy and very close to a playoff spot. The Rapids home form has been brilliant as of late, but a weekend clash at Atlanta United will prove tough, especially as the Rocky Mountain side are 0-6 on the road this season.

Colorado (5-8-1, 16 points) are finally out of the Western Conference cellar after a 2-1 comeback win over Portland Timbers at home on Saturday evening. Timbers attacking player Sebastian Blanco put the visitors up in the first half. However, Dominique Badji and Alan Gordon both scored in the second half to help Colorado claim all three points - to the delight of the home crowd.

Los Angeles (5-5-4, 19 points) are just outside a playoff spot in the Western Conference. The Galaxy are not their usual dominant force at the moment as head coach Bruce Arena left to return to the United States national side, while Steven Gerrard, Landon Donovan, and Robbie Keane all departed the club at the end of last season.

Galaxy Manager Curt Onalfo will most likely have a tough time breaking down the Rapids at home and will be without the services of Robbie Rogers and Sebastian Lletget. Also, Jermaine Jones is questionable and is unlikely to feature. Giovanni dos Santos is not currently playing for the Mexican national team and will most likely play against Colorado.

The Rapids will be without the services of Bobby Burling due to a foot injury, but Shkelzen Gashi and Nana Boateng are nearing returns from their spells on the sideline to lingering injuries. This will be LA Galaxy’s first game in Colorado since their stunning playoff exit last season in a penalty shootout.
