Burgundy Wave Fantasy Recap: Week 14

After a massive double game week, we only have six teams to choose from in Week 15.

What a great week - the Colorado Rapids came back to win late, we got to witness pure Christian Pulisic magic, and it was a double game week! This was the highest scoring week on average across the league, and with so many teams playing twice before the international break, the options were virtually limitless.

BW League Standings after Week 14

Classic League

We have new leaders! Holy Shipp and Counting Cronins are both sitting on 1234 points, narrowly above Evergreen Front. Counting Cronins came in with the highest point total in the round with 180, and had five players on the dream team this week.

Two other teams had noteworthy performances this round: Bad and Badji and Shkelzen Crew both came in with 170 points, the second highest total this week, and both had five dream team players on their squads. Shkelzen Crew needed a good week to make up some ground lost from last round.

The biggest drop this week was Blue Suede Sjoberg, he fell to the 9th spot, we will have to cut him a little slack but this was the worst week to forget to set your lineup. Good news is, everyone still has plenty of time to catch up.

Head-to-Head

Bad and Badji did well again, beating out C38 Boulder 170-106, and pushing him into second place. draftKicks will stay atop the standings for another week with a nice win against The Wall of the West 158-125. Holy Shipp and Los Pollos Hermanos tied this week with 158 points each!

Looks like we have a Badji battle coming up this week. Bad and Badji will be playing Badji’t Crazy - can Rob knock Cody out of the top two?

Biggest Value Picks

Jose Leonardo Ribeiro Da Silva, or Leonardo as he is known by most, has had some good weeks recently. He defended well against Dallas last round, and then had 11 points when Houston Dynamo crushed Real Salt Lake 5-1 last week. Look forward to Leonardo in the next few rounds.

Kofi Opare only has 30 fantasy points all season but he has scored 20 points in the last three games. DC didn’t put anything in the back of the net this week, making the defenders job much harder, but DC United did keep a clean sheet against the LA Galaxy. Kofi Opare played 180 minutes and earned four defending bonuses. Kofi Opare is only valued at $4.4, which is a good value pick for a possible switcharoo or to make room for more attacking pieces.

Biggest Busts

The entire Real Salt Lake team was a huge bust, giving up 11 goals in one week. Real Salt Lake had a tough go of it recently, with five of their players getting called up to the U-20 World Cup, and Nick Rimando being with the senior team at the same time. With some key injuries as well, Salt Lake had a tough week.

Fenendo Adi has not been in great form in recent weeks. This week Portland only played once, and picking someone from a single game week player with so many good options could be a dangerous decision, but Adi was selected by 26.4% of fantasy managers. Adi has only scored nine points in his last three games, and even though he put up seven shots against San Jose, but couldn’t put one away.

Round 15

Only six teams will be playing today, so team building is going to be very similar. There are still some players available for selection, I think Fenendo Adi will have a bounce back game this week. Dom Dwyer will be at home against Montreal, and since Sporting Kansas City plays better at home, I’m looking for a good performance out of Dom.

Everyone do me a favor, look at your lineup: Make sure it is set before 2 pm MDT and make sure that none of your players is on international duty. Check the injury report and follow us @burgundywave. Good luck!
