Colorado Rapids vs. Vancouver Whitecaps: Highlights, stats, and post-game quotes

The Rapids dominated last night. Then they made one mistake.

MLS: Vancouver Whitecaps FC at Colorado Rapids Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

Last night the Colorado Rapids had moments of connecting passes and doubled their shot total for the year. Several players had really great games, and several did not. The Rapids held off the Whitecaps until the 84th minute, when Brek Shea was left wide open and was able to dribble in and score on Tim Howard.

The worst part is that the Rapids actually dominated most of the game, with several waves of attacks. But as we’ve seen time and again this season, the other teams take advantage of any mistake that the Rapids make. The team needs something to go their way to build up a little confidence, because right now, it doesn’t seem like they have much at all.

The Rapids are currently 1-6-1 (4 points).

Pablo Mastroeni

“It’s a tough moment, but we’ve just got to keep working hard. Keep doing it. There’s no secret... When you see people quitting, that’s when you’re not even close.”

Shkelzen Gashi

“When you see the fans, they support us... now is the time to win all the home games. We played good... but today it was not for us. We need to stay positive and keep fighting for the next weekend.”

Eric Miller

“We’re doing alright for 75 minutes or so. But then instead of getting the goal when the other team got tired last year, we’re giving them up this year... we’re having quite a bit of misfortune at the moment, and they’re putting their chances away, so it’s tough.”
