On Saturday, May 20th, the Colorado Rapids will travel to the Keystone State to play the Philadelphia Union at Talen Energy Stadium. Kickoff is set for 5:00pm MT and the match will be broadcast on Altitude.

The Rapids have lost all five road games this season, while scoring just one meager goal in the process. Colorado needs to improve in the ‘goals scored’ tally of the standings if they want ascend from the foot of the table. There’s no doubt that the Rapids have struggled to start the 2017 campaign, but the team should receive a boost as Kevin Doyle and Axel Sjoberg could potentially return to the starting lineup on Saturday evening.

Colorado (2-7-1, 7 points) are coming off a 3-0 road loss at Chicago on Wednesday. Nemanja Nikolic opened the scoring in the 15th minute and added another in the second half. David Accam also found the scoresheet for Chicago. It was a very disappointing result given the fact that Colorado had soundly defeated San Jose by a score of 3-0 on Saturday at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. Rapids head coach Pablo Mastroeni did state that his team are not worried about Philadelphia on Saturday, but they are worried about themselves. He was referring to the drastic differences in the way the team played against San Jose and Chicago over the past week.

Philadelphia (3-4-4, 13 points) have won three league matches in a row and are currently just three points back from 6th place in the Eastern Conference. The Union had a midweek match at home where they defeated the Houston Dynamo by a scoreline of 2-0. Fafa Picault and Ilsinho both scored first half goals and that was all Philadelphia needed to record their third straight win.

Historically, Colorado have had positive results in Philadelphia with three wins and five draws since the Union joined Major League Soccer. Meanwhile, Rapids midfielder Nana Boateng is still injured with a back issue while Union players Maurice Edu and Brian Carroll are not expected to feature for Philadelphia. After this game, the Rapids will be at home for the next four league games, starting on Saturday, May 27th against Sporting Kansas City.
