The Colorado Rapids have won five in a row against Sporting Kansas City.

MLS: Colorado Rapids at Sporting KC Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

After a three-week break, the Colorado Rapids are back against a Sporting Kansas City squad who are on an 11-game unbeaten streak at Children’s Mercy Park. SKC is 1-0-3 so far this season, with two goals for and just one goal against.

On the Rapids side, this is our first game without captain Sam Cronin and left fullback Marc Burch, so some disjointedness is to be expected. Nana Boateng is getting his first start in what will presumably be his position for the rest of the year, and there’s some shifting around in the back line to get both Mekeil Williams and Eric Miller in the lineup. Kortne Ford is also getting his first start as a Rapid this week, as he is in over Bobby Burling.

That being said, Tim Howard is back from national team duty, and Colorado has defeated Kansas City the last five times the teams have met. It’s looking like anything could happen, so hopefully we’re up for an exciting game (and three points on the road would be AMAZING)!

COLORADO RAPIDS STARTING XI:

Tim Howard; Mekeil Williams, Jared Watts, Kortne Ford, Eric Miller; Micheal Azira, Bismark Adjei-Boateng; Dominique Badji, Shkëlzen Gashi, Marlon Hairston; Kevin Doyle

BENCH: Mike Da Fonte, Dillon Powers, Sam Hamilton, Zac MacMath, Bobby Burling, Caleb Calvert, Josh Gatt
