Later today, the Colorado Rapids will play Minnesota United at TCF Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. This will be the second time this season the two Western Conference teams have played each other. Kickoff is set for 4:00 pm MDT and the match will be broadcast on Altitude.

The Colorado Rapids will look to get back to winning ways against Minnesota United on Sunday afternoon. The Rapids have not won since the opening week of the season and currently find themselves in last place in the Western Conference following an extremely disappointing home loss to Real Salt Lake last Saturday.

The first meeting between the Rapids and the expansion team resulted in a 2-2 draw at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park on March 18th. Since then, the Rapids traded midfielder Sam Cronin and defender Marc Burch to Minnesota in exchange for Josh Gatt and Mohammed Saeid. Gatt has a lot of experience playing in Norway’s top division while Saeid played for his hometown club Orebro SK in Sweden before making the switch to Major League Soccer in 2015.

Minnesota (1-4-2, 5 points) are coming off an uplifting 2-2 draw at Houston Dynamo last Saturday. Christian Ramirez and Johan Venegas both scored 2nd half goals to earn a road point that saw Minnesota climb out of the bottom of the Western Conference standings. The Loons only have one league win so far which came against Real Salt Lake on April 1st.

Colorado will be without Tim Howard for the second straight game as the former Everton goalkeeper was suspended for an issue with a fan in Kansas City. The suspension was unfortunate but Tim Howard released a statement on Facebook where he did apologize for his behavior.

A road win against Minnesota would be a big confidence boost for the team as the Rapids have another road match against Orlando City next weekend.
