Colorado Rapids Starting XI & Game Thread: #COLvNE

It’s the day we’ve all been waiting for - the home opener for the 2017 MLS season.

Abbie Mood

It’s been less than a month since the Colorado Rapids met the New England Revolution on the pitch. But that was preseason. With the start of the regular season today, there is definitely a different competitive feeling in the air. The Rapids want to come out strong at home and extend the unbeaten at home record, while the Revs want to make the playoffs this year.

In the preseason match, Caleb Calvert had two goals and Dominique Badji put in one. We know that Calvert won’t be starting today, and Shkëlzen Gashi is questionable due to a nagging Achilles, so this first game will be a good test for the Rapids’ offense. Alan Gordon is also available today, so maybe we will see him on the pitch for the first time since he joined us from LA.

While the Rapids didn’t do much to change their lackluster offense, the Revs added two new center backs and a long-awaited DP (Xavier Kouassi). Their midfield is mostly the same and Lee Nguyen, Juan Agudelo, and Kei Kamara are still leading the offense.
