When this game was rescheduled from earlier this year, who knew where we’d be in October? The mighty have fallen and the top two teams in the Western Conference in 2016 are both below the playoff line. While the Colorado Rapids (8-18-5, 25 points) are trying to stay off the bottom of the table, FC Dallas (10-9-12, 42 points) is in a 3-way tie with San Jose Earthquakes and Real Salt Lake. All three of those teams are just one point behind the 5th place Houston Dynamo, so the race for those final couple playoff spots is a tight one.
This is the first time Dallas is coming to Colorado this year, and in the other three meetings between the teams in Frisco, the Rapids are 0-2-1 (including the Open Cup loss). That being said, the Dallas side is 1-7-3 in their last 11 away games, and the Rapids are 7-5-3 at home this season.
The Rapids are missing Tim Howard and Mekeil Williams for international duty, which means we’ll see Zac MacMath feature in goal. Jared Watts is also out for Colorado, serving a two-game suspension for a foul last week that resulted in a red card and ejection. Micheal Azira is listed as questionable, but was diagnosed with a high ankle sprain, so it’s highly unlikely that we will see him tonight.
Dallas is missing Kellyn Acosta and Maynor Figueroa for international duty.
