Sounds like the Colorado Rapids are close to signing 35-year old LA Galaxy forward Alan Gordon. The Denver Post reported that a source confirmed that the Rapids are close to inking a deal with the free agent.
Alan Gordon has been in the league for 13 years, initially drafted in 2004. He spent 2005-2010 and then 2014-2016 with the LA Galaxy, which included two MLS Cup wins. In the 2016 season, he had three goals and an assist (7 starts, 22 games played total). He’s a big, physical presence that could help with hold up play in the middle. There is no doubt that when he’s on the field, he makes an impact.
Here are some highlights of the Rapids killer himself (thanks cinhosa!):
But here’s the question... is he what the Rapids need? Alan Gordon has both the playing experience and the veteran leadership. But he’s not a guy that is going to come out and score a whole bunch of goals - he’s a solid super sub and has a couple clutch goals, but WE NEED SOMEONE TO SCORE A WHOLE BUNCH OF GOALS. It would be a big name signing, but again, is he what we need?
