2017 MLS Draft: How to Watch and Live Updates

  • There will be two rounds on Friday. The Rapids have the 15th pick in Round 1, and the 2nd pick in Round 2.

12:01 pm PST: Things are kicking off!

12:05 pm PST: MLS Commissioner Don Garber is making his statement.

12:12 pm PST: Minnesota is on the clock for the first pick. Each team has 4 minutes to make their choice.

12: 16 pm PST: The first pick of the 2017 MLS SuperDraft is forward Abu Danladi from UCLA & Generation Adidas.

The Rapids have the 15th pick, which could be in about an hour if everyone takes their full time.

12:20 pm PST: Atlanta United FC went with defender Miles Robinson from Syracuse & Generation Adidas for the second pick.

12:24 pm PST: Chicago Fire trades their 3rd overall pick to NYCFC in return for $250K GAM. NYC picks forward Jonathan Lewis from Akron & Gen. Adidas.

12:28 pm PST: Houston Dynamo traded their pick to Portland Timbers for $100K + Int'l Roster spot + 10th pick. Timbers choose forward Jeremy Ebobisse.

12:37* pm PST: The 5th pick by Columbus Crew SC is defender Alhassan Abubakar from Univ. of Dayton. *somehow my timing got messed up

12:41 pm PST: The 6th pick by the San Jose Earthquakes is midfielder Jackson Yueill from UCLA & Generation Adidas.

12:45 pm PST: The Vancouver Whitecaps FC choose defender Jakob Nerwinski from Univ. of Connecticut.

12:50 pm PST: Atlanta United FC choose midfielder Julian Gressel from Providence College.

12:54 pm PST: Columbus Crew SC choose forward Niko Hansen as the 9th pick.

12:59 pm PST: Houston Dynamo goes with midfielder Joe Holland from Hofstra.

1:03 pm PST: Chicago Fire choose midfielder Daniel Johnson from Univ. of Louisville.

1:07 pm PST: DC United takes their 4 min. time-out.

1:11 pm PST: Nope, they just needed more time. DC United picked defender Chris Odoi-Atsem from Univ. of Maryland

1:17 pm PST: Real Salt Lake snags DU defender Reagan Dunk. Congrats Reagan, we’ll see you in the Rocky Mountain Cup!

1:21 pm PST: Sporting KC choose Colton Storm from UNC Chapel Hill.

1:25 pm PST: The Rapids pick local DU midfielder Sam Hamilton. Congrats, Sam!

1:30 pm PST: The Seattle Sounders FC trade their pick to NYCFC for $75K GAM. NYCFC chooses midfielder Kwame Awuah from Univ. of Connecticut.

1:36 pm PST: The New York Red Bulls choose midfielder Zeiko Lewis from Boston College as the 17th pick.

1:40 pm PST: FC Dallas picks midfielder Jacori Hayes from Wake Forest.

1:44 pm PST: Montreal Impact pick forward Nick DePuy from UC Santa Barbara.

1:48 pm PST: 20th pick goes to New England Revolution, and they choose forward Brian Wright from Univ. of Vermont.

1:51 pm PST: Toronto FC picks defender Brandon Aubrey from Notre Dame.

1:57 pm PST: For the final pick of the first round, Seattle Sounders pick defender Brian Nana-Sinkam from Stanford.

5 minute break, then the second round. Rapids have the 2nd pick (24th overall) in the 2nd round.

2:03 pm PST: They run a tight ship around here. Round 2 is kicking off with a pick from Minnesota United FC.

2:07 pm PST: MNUFC calls a time-out.

2:12 pm PST: For the first pick of the second round (23rd overall), MNUFC goes with GK Alec Ferrell from Wake Forest.

2:16 pm PST: The Rapids second pick is defender Liam Callahan from Syracuse.
