Colorado Rapids MatchDay: Burgundy starting XI and game thread

The Colorado Rapids are on the road again, taking on the Vancouver Whitecaps in BC Place today.

MLS: San Jose Earthquakes at Colorado Rapids Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

While the Vancouver Whitecaps have lost six of their last eight games, they are fighting to gain points and get into the playoffs. Currently in 8th place in the Western Conference, they are six points behind the cut-off line.

For the Colorado Rapids, a win today would get the Burgundy Boys to 50 points faster than ever before. The current club record is 51 points, so I’m gonna say we will beat that this season. Hopefully we will get to 50 today.

The Rapids could also secure a playoff spot today, with a Colorado win + a Seattle Sounders loss/tie + Real Salt Lake loss/tie. Seattle plays LA Galaxy at LA tomorrow, and RSL plays Dallas in Salt Lake. It could happen, people!

Good news with the line-up! Apparently we were mistaken about Axel Sjöberg accumulating too many yellow cards, because he’s in the starting lineup! An interesting choice with keeping Dillon Powers in the middle and pushing Shkëlzen Gashi out wide. Gashi plays great in the 10 spot, but #PabloTactics. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

COLORADO RAPIDS STARTING XI:

Tim Howard; Marc Burch, Axel Sjöberg, Jared Watts, Eric Miller; Michael Azira, Sam Cronin; Shkëlzen Gashi, Dillon Powers, Marlon Hairston; Dominique Badji

BENCH: Caleb Calvert, Dennis Castillo, Sebastien Le Toux, Zac MacMath, Marco Pappa, Zach Pfeffer, Mekeil Williams.
