Maybe if I say it enough times, it will happen. WE NEED THREE POINTS TODAY.
While first place in the standings is pretty much out of reach, this head-to-head match-up with FC Dallas is still pretty important. A win would not only give the guys some confidence after two losses in a row, but would also give us a boost over Real Salt Lake and LA Galaxy. A win would also put the Colorado Rapids in second place in the Western Conference, which is where the Burgundy Boys really want to be in come playoff time.
But it’s no secret that this is going to be a tough game to win. Like the other top teams in the Western Conference, Dallas is unbeaten at Toyota Stadium. They’ve also only allowed 10 goals in 14 matches at home.
The good news is that our international players are back, and while Jermaine Jones remains on the injury list, it would seem that Marlon Hairston is back, too. There’s also the possibility that Dallas will underestimate the Rapids and be caught off guard, like last year. On April 10, 2015, the Rapids hadn’t won in 18 games, but marched into Texas to earn a 4-0 victory. Also helpful? Dominique Badji has scored two goals in two trips to Frisco.
It could happen.
