Charlotte Independence at Charleston Battery: How to Watch, Live Stream and More

Again, our partner club, the Charlotte Independence travel to Charleston to take on the Battery in a border rival USL matchup. Here's what you need to know.

Kamil Krzaczynski-USA TODAY Sports

You couldn't ask for a closer matchup today than our own 6th place Charlotte Independence (39 points), traveling to play the 7th place Charleston Battery (38 points) at MUSC Health Park at 5:30 MT. Our Independence are coming off an impressive 4-0 win against Orlando City B two Wednesdays ago, so they should be plenty rested to take on their border rivals.

What to Watch For

  1. More firepower!  Brian Brown's brace and Enzo Martinez' beauty helped dismantle OCB. The Independence are finding their groove. While you're at it, check out Martinez' seventh goal of the year--a beauty:

  2. Romario Williams. The Battery played the Wilmington Hammerheads last Saturday, earning a point in a 1-1 draw.  Our guys will need to keep an eye on Romario Williams who has put nine in the back of the net this year.
  3. Our Rapids players on loan. At this time, only John Berner, Caleb Calvert, and Zach Pfeffer are on loan from the Rapids (UPDATE: Calvert was called up against RSL last night and looked good! The experience with Charlotte is paying off.)  Berner has been swapping in and out with Cody Mizell who has been impressive in goal this year. Calvert is making some noise in the USL by scoring six goals this year, all the while getting some needed work in to hopefully contribute at DSGP sometime soon.
