The Colorado Rapids come out of this match with a point, but it is almost like they lost two points. The Rapids tied Orlando City SC 0-0 in a match at Dick's Sporting Goods Park where there were not too many opportunities for either team.

The Rapids had their opportunities in the box but seemed unselfish has they choose the pass instead of the shot. Orlando keeper Joe Bendik seemed uneasy in goal and was out of position a few times, leaving the Rapids openings that they did not take advantage of. Bendik even released the ball for a punt after he was outside the box.

The sad statistic was they took 13 shots and only one was on goal. That is not a good statistic in soccer. You can only score when it is on goal. Granted there was a shot that was deflected by Orlando onto the post, but still more shots need to be on target.

Shkelzen Gashi had several shots and deflected shots, but no luck finding the back of the net. Kevin Doyle had the same opportunities but missed out. Granted he was taken out on a breakaway at the top of the box that after the more I look at it should have been red on a denial of a goal scoring opportunity.

The reason it should have been DOGSO is that the supporting player is too far in the middle of the pitch. Doyle would have easily gotten the shot off before support or help got there. It was a poor decision by Sorin Stoica.

Eric Miller had a great opportunity in the second half on a corner kick, but was laying on the grass in the six yard box and was unable to challenge Bendik.

Here is how I saw the match.

Tim Howard - 6 (6.78): Howard was not challenged much in this match but made the saves that needed to be made. He only faced two shots on target.

Marc Burch - 7 (7.04): Burch was solid and was able to get up into the attack more, especially in the second half. He provided the outlet wide on the left and put in some dangerous crosses that led to chances for the Rapids.

Axel Sjoberg - 7 (6.83): Sjoberg will probably come out of this match with a black eye after colliding heads with Jose Aja. Orlando came to play physical with Cyle Larin and Julio Baptista and Sjoberg handled them will Bobby Burling.

Bobby Burling - 7 (7.22): See note on Sjoberg. Burling came to play physical too to handle the big guys up top for Orlando. A solid performance for the two centerbacks.

Eric Miller - 6 (6.70): Had a solid match and was more involved in the first half. Got knocked down on a corner in the second half that could have led to a good scoring opportunity if he managed to stay on his feet.

Sam Cronin - 7 (6.87): Strong in the middle of the field during a physical match. He helped provide some good protection for the backline. He was able to spend some time in the attacking half.

Dillon Powers - 6 (5.87): Did not have a particularly good match as compared to Cronin. He seemed absent on the ball at times and had several unsuccessful long passes. He did have some good passes in the attacking half.

Sebastien Le Toux - 6 (5.78): Le Toux has had better matches in his career. He seems to be getting used to his teammates. There was a large chunk of the first half where he seemed to have gone missing. Hopefully he can find the chemistry soon.

Shkelzen Gashi - 7 (6.61): Gashi is unselfish and that is not a surprise to Rapids fans. He took many shots, five, and all the corners, eight. Sometimes he takes shots that he shouldn't and I did not see that on Saturday night. He was unlucky not to score in the second half when his shot was deflected off a defender and then off the post.

Marlon Hairston - 7 (6.74): Hairston was active throughout the night and caused some problems for the Orlando defense. The one issue with Hairston is that he seemed to hold onto the ball too long at times. He will learn.

Kevin Doyle - 5 (6.26): It comes a time when Doyle needs to start scoring. He had a couple of opportunities in this match and did not manage to score. He took five shots and not one of them was on target. He did take a questionable yellow in the first half. It did not look like a foul to me.

Marco Pappa - 7 (5.74): He came on and was quite active early. He had a nice move where he used his left foot to settle the ball to the right and got a nice shot off with his right foot.

Micheal Azira - N/A (5.74): Substitute in 81' for Cronin.

Dominique Badji - N/A (5.22): Substitute in 90'+1 for Doyle.

That is how I saw the match. What are your thoughts?
